Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about Retouch Double Process.
Appointments typically range from two to four hours depending on hair density, texture, and processing time. Since this is a double process for roots only, we start with consultation, strand testing, then perform lightening and color deposit to match existing lengths.
If regrowth is less than half an inch we may recommend a full color refresh or alternate service. A consultation determines suitability; sometimes color melting or custom application can accommodate shorter regrowth safely.
During consultation we review your color history, assess porosity and condition, discuss goals, and perform strand tests if needed. This ensures we choose safe lift levels, the right toners, and a plan that preserves locs and natural hair integrity.
Come to your appointment with dry, product-free hair unless instructed otherwise. Avoid recent chemical services and deep conditioners. Bring photos of your desired color and be prepared to discuss maintenance and timeline during the consultation.
When performed by experienced stylists and supported by strengthening treatments, a Retouch Double Process minimizes damage risk. We tailor lift levels, use bond-repair products, and monitor porosity to protect locs and minimize breakage, prioritizing hair health throughout.
Most clients return every four to eight weeks depending on growth rate, contrast, and personal preference. We recommend booking a consultation to create a maintenance schedule that keeps roots blended while protecting the health of locs and natural hair.
