Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about Detox Shampoo w/Steam.
We recommend a detox every four to eight weeks depending on lifestyle, product use and scalp needs. If you swim, sweat heavily, or use heavy styling products, schedule more frequently to maintain clarity and prevent buildup.
No — when performed by experienced stylists, the detox cleans and conditions without disrupting interlocks or tight roots. We use gentle soaking and careful handling to preserve loc structure while removing grime and restoring moisture.
Appointments usually run between sixty and one hundred twenty minutes depending on loc length, thickness, and whether soaking is needed. Longer, denser locs require extra time for thorough soaking, steam treatment, and deep conditioning for best results.
Generally yes — our gentle detox and steam are formulated to protect color when using appropriate products. Tell your stylist about recent coloring; they’ll select color-safe cleansers and adjust temperature to minimize fading while restoring scalp health and moisture.
We apply warm steam after shampooing to open hair cuticles and promote conditioner absorption. Steam increases moisture penetration, loosens trapped debris, and enhances circulation to the scalp, resulting in cleaner locs, softer texture, and improved overall hair health.
Keep locs moisturized with lightweight sprays or oils, avoid heavy products for at least a week, and rinse with lukewarm water. Sleep with a satin scarf, and schedule follow-up detoxes as recommended to maintain scalp clarity and prevent buildup.
